Sharon Prill, former #AAJA natl sec/treas, named publisher at Yakima Herald-Republic!
Congratulations to former AAJA secretary and treasurer Sharon Prill, who has been named publisher of the Yakima Herald-Republic!
This makes Prill the third Asian-American woman to lead a daily newspaper in the U.S. The others are Mei-Mei Chan, publisher of the News Press at Fort Myers, Florida, and Mi-Ai Parrish, publisher of the Idaho Statesman. (Both spoke at the AAJA convention in Hollywood in August at our “Success Stories” panel.)
Prill is leaving the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel where she was senior vice president. She worked at The Seattle Times before joining the Journal-Sentinel, and The Seattle Times company owns the Yakima paper. Hooray for Frank Blethen, our publisher, for moving an Asian American into the upper ranks.
Here is the Yakima Herald story on her appointment.
